YourScene (website and mobile app) is operated by Section LLC ("Section," "we," "us," or "our").

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use our website, waitlist, and mobile application (together, the "Services").

Information we collect

We collect information you provide, information generated through your use of the Services, and information from third parties as described below.

Account and profile

• Email address — required to create an account and sign in (e.g., via Supabase Auth).
• Username / display name — optional or required depending on product settings.
• Avatar / profile photo — optional; if you upload media, we store it to display on your profile.
• Selected city — to personalize maps, events, and recommendations.
• Teams, interests, vibes, languages, travel mode — optional profile fields you choose to share ("Fan Passport" and related features).

Location Data

YourScene may collect and use your approximate or precise location when you allow location access. We use location to show nearby events, watch parties, venues, live scenes, maps, city-based recommendations, Travel Mode results, check-ins, and safety/moderation context.

We do not require location access to use every feature. If you do not allow location access, you can select a city manually or use Travel Mode.

When you create content, RSVP, check in, start a live scene, or upload a scene clip, the city, venue, event, or approximate location associated with that action may be stored and shown to other users depending on the feature and your privacy settings.

You can change location permissions at any time in your device settings. YourScene uses while-in-use location only in the current app build — we do not use hidden or background location tracking for launch.

Social and activity data

• RSVPs, check-ins, follows, saved events, created events
• Posts, clips, and other media you upload
• Notifications preferences and delivery tokens (e.g., push)

Waitlist and marketing (website)

When you join the city waitlist on the public website, we may collect:

• Email and name
• Launch city (selected from our launch markets or entered as another city), plus internal market labels we derive (e.g., country/region) to plan rollout
• Interests and role (e.g., fan, venue, promoter)
• Optional note you choose to provide
• Campaign attribution (UTM parameters, referrer, landing page) stored locally in your browser and submitted with signup where configured
• Browser user agent at signup (server log metadata)

Automatically collected

• Usage analytics — feature usage, funnels, and product metrics (if enabled)
• Crash logs and diagnostics — to fix bugs and improve stability
• Device identifiers — may be collected by analytics or crash reporting SDKs (e.g., device ID, advertising ID where applicable and permitted by platform policies)
• Log data — IP address, user agent, timestamps, and API request metadata on our servers

How we use information

We use personal information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Services
• Authenticate users and secure accounts
• Personalize content (city, interests, recommendations)
• Enable social features (RSVPs, follows, posts, notifications)
• Send transactional messages and, with consent where required, marketing
• Monitor abuse, fraud, and policy violations
• Comply with law and enforce our Terms

Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

Where applicable, we process data based on: performance of a contract, legitimate interests (security, analytics, product improvement), consent (location, marketing, certain cookies), and legal obligation.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

• Infrastructure providers — e.g., Supabase (database, auth, storage), hosting (Netlify/Vercel), email delivery
• Analytics and crash reporting — if enabled, subject to their policies and our configuration
• Push notification services — e.g., Apple/Google push infrastructure via our notification provider
• Professional advisors — lawyers, accountants, auditors under confidentiality
• Authorities — when required by law or to protect rights and safety
• Business transfers — merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with notice where required

We periodically review service providers and limit their access to what is needed to operate the Services.

Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Specific retention periods are documented in our App Data Inventory (internal: `legal_doc/APP_DATA_INVENTORY.md`).

Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object or withdraw consent.

California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA. EEA/UK users may lodge complaints with a supervisory authority.

Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or 16 where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe we have collected such data.

International transfers

If you use the Services from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries where we or our providers operate.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Changes

We may update this policy. We will post the revised version with a new "Last updated" date and, where required, provide additional notice.
